CETDEM’s Farmer’s Corner will be held on Sunday, 21 July 2013 at the OFCC

An event that happens every 3rd week of the month except on public holidays and when it does not clash with our major events. If you are looking for fresh, affordable organic vegetables and some delicious breads/quick breads, this is the place for you! Let’s see if we can serve you an exciting scrumptious breakfast on that morning!! Interested?

Vegetable seeds/seedlings, organic fertilizer, compost and compost bins are available for sale.
The Objectives of this small farmer’s corner include:

* To Cater specifically for small organic farmers as an outlet to market their produce.
* To Cultivate closer relationships/trust amongst farmers and consumers.
* To Provide fresh and affordable organically grown vegetables to consumers.

See you on 21 July, Sunday at the Organic Farming Community Centre at No 29 Jalan 19/15, Section 19, Petaling Jaya.


    Do more for Batu Caves

TO HELP preserve Batu Caves, environmental NGOs are calling for the setting up of a permanent management committee to oversee the development and conservation of the limestone caves that are 400 million years old.

Centre for Environment, Technology and Development Malaysia (Cetdem) environmentalist Gurmit Singh, however, questioned the need and effectiveness of such a committee. “There is no point if the committee is not given the power or authority to act,” he said.

    Organic Day at Bukit Bandaraya

THE Bukit Bandaraya inaugural Hari Organik (Organic Day) celebration was a success. The event was jointly organised by the Centre for Environment, Technology & Development, Malaysia (Cetdem), Bukit Bandaraya Residents Association, and is supported by City Hall.

Cetdem employee V. Sathis said the response at Bukit Bandaraya was very good. “We hope that more people can come and join us at the Farmers Corner on July 21 at our Cetdem Community Centre in Petaling Jaya,” he said.

    Bangsar residents come out in support of Organic Day

THE Organic Day held in Bangsar … was jointly organised by the Centre for Environment, Technology and Development, Malaysia (Cetdem) and Bukit Bandaraya Residents Association, and supported by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

Cetdem staff V. Sathis said many had enquired about composting and green living.

The Mini-exhibition will be held between 10am-5pm on 2 July, Tuesday at Giant Hypermarket Kuala Terengganu.
